Although it’s the youngest of the Pappy varieties from the Old Rip Van Winkle lineup, Family Reserve 15-Year is considered by many the best of the bunch and as such is just as hard to come by as its older siblings. Crafted with the family’s famous wheated recipe, it comes from barrels aged in the heart of their Kentucky warehouse. The decade and a half of aging gives the bourbon a hazy copper color, with an intense palate of caramel, toffee, and peppery brown spice that gives way to a complex, lengthy finish of spice and wood notes. Bottled at a stout 107 barrel proof, it’s considered a nearly flawless bourbon and is available in limited quantities through Uncrate’s licensed partners.
